A pair of Motosacoche machines in Rooms 13 and 14 in 1961

The Motosacoche was a huge swiss-made[1] pair of synchronised tape recorders modified by the BBC to run at half speed of 15ips.

“One was a Motosacoche. To service it you had to take[?] in the back and get inside it but, so you didn't have to crouch down, the whole deck rose majestically and it would actually work while it was going up and down. So, if you really wanted to frighten a producer, you'd ??? the back of the machine, press the button and the whole thing would rise into the air with his precious music on top of it.”[2]
